Since it’s inception in 2001 at a humble weekend market stall, creative couple Susien Chong and Nic Briand have taken their label LOVER and firmly established it as an influential brand that has managed to garner global praise from Vogue to Vice Magazine.

Self described as “same album, different songs” the couple who met in 1996, have taken their talents in fashion design, and graphic design, mixed with their individual tastes, one for romantic and ethereal the other for loud and irreverent, woven them together to create a label that has remained true to its signature style and ideals from day one.

Chong graduated with a Bachelor of Design with first class honours from Sydney’s prestigious University of Technology and spent 3 and a half years as assistant designer at high profile local label ‘Zimmermann’. Before she left to create the label.

Briand graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of New South Wales and spent several years creating various brand campaigns, graphics and textile prints for leading fashion and youth lifestyle clients.

Described by many as a “cult“ brand, it’s unique approach to feminine fashion, with a mixture of pop culture references, quirky detailing and intimate fabrication has led to a fiercly loyal fanbase. and a high level of respect from both the fashion media and stockists alike. It’s independent approach to distribution has seen the label work with only the best boutiques worldwide, along with Intermix, Otte, and Elyse Walker.  

It has been hand picked by a diverse selection of ladies such as It Girl– Alexa Chung, unique songstress Joanna Newsom, Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon, and well known actresses Keira Knightley, Michelle Williams and Kirsten Dunst.

The label has achieved coverage in an envious selection of publications such as US & UK Vogue,, Teen Vogue, Nylon, Lula, Dazed & Confused, WWD, Harpers Bazaar, Rolling Stone, Grazia, and Russh.
